Types of Financial Aid

Federal and State Aid

  • Federal Pell Grants amounts depend on student eligibility, enrollment status and federal funding. All students are encouraged to apply by completing the Free Application for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA). This grant does not need to be repaid.
  • Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG) are awarded to students showing exceptional financial need. Again, use FAFSA to apply for this grant. The WITCC financial aid office will notify you if your are eligible to receive this grant. The amount of the grant will vary depending on student eligibility, enrollment status and federal funding.
  • Federal Stafford Student Loan applications are available from banks, credit unions, saving and loan institutions and other lending agencies. A student's eligibility for the Federal Pell Grant has to be determined before a Stafford Loan can be processed. Contact the financial aid office for details.
  • Iowa Vocational-Technical Tuition Grants are for students who enroll in vocational programs. You must be an Iowa resident for at least 12 months prior to enrolling at WITCC to be eligible.
  • Iowa Grants are awarded to students who have completed their FAFSA and have an exceptional financial need. The amounts of the grants vary depending on student eligiblity, enrollment status and state funding.
  • Iowa National Guard Education Assistance Program is for members of the Iowa National Guard. Contact your individual unit for application procedures.
  • The Federal Work-Study Program is a part-time job that is funded through the Federal Work-Study Programs. Eligiblity is based on financial need. Students eligible for this program are paid monthly by check on same pay cycle as the college employees. Check with the financial aid office for details and what jobs are available.
  • If you don't live in Iowa, you may still be eligible for assistance from your home state. Check with your state agency, or contact the financial aid office for assistance.

Scholarships

Get Adobe Reader In addition to federal grants and student loans, scholarships are available due to the generous gifts of individuals, trust funds, organizations and businesses. Scholarship amounts are determined each year and recipients are notified when the decision is made. You must apply for a scholarship each year you attend WITCC. You can get a scholarship application in person on the campus, or you down download the pdf application here, fill it out, and mail it to the address on the application.

  • The WITCC Foundation is a non-profit organization that organizes many business and organization sponsored scholarships for our students. These scholarships have varying requirements and amounts. Please check with us when applying for financial aid to see which scholarships may be available to you.
  • Annual Campaign Scholarships are available, and all students are encouraged to apply.
  • Program Scholarships are for students in targeted programs of study. Please check with the financial aid office on what is available and how to apply.

  • The deadline for Datatel Scholars Foundation applications is Thursday, January 31, 2008 - 5:00pm Eastern Standard Time. Please visit www.datatel.com/dsf for application information.

Military Benefits

Qualifying veterans with 12 semester hours or more in designated programs are eligible for full benefits from the Veterans' Administration. Six semester hours qualify you for half-time benefits and nine semester hours qualify you for three-fourths benefits. Contact the Admissions Office to apply. Contact the Veterans' Advisor for current regulations and benefit information.

Current Guard and Reserve members also qualify for education benefits. These benefits may vary for each state and branch. Please contact the education office for your unit to get information.
